Doxazosin comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken once a
day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask
your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.
Take Doxazosin exactly as directed. Do not take more or less
of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Doxazosin controls high blood pressure and the symptoms of
benign prostatic hyperplasia but does not cure them. Continue to take

Before taking
Doxazosin,
tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Doxazosin, prazosin (Minipress), terazosin (Hytrin), or any other drugs.
tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription
medications you are taking, especially beta blockers such as atenolol (Tenormin),
carteolol (Cartrol), labetalol (Normodyne,Trandate), metoprolol (Lopressor),
nadolol (Corgard), propranolol (Inderal), sotalol (Betapace), and
timolol (Blocadren); clonidine (Catapres); indomethacin (Indocin);
verapamil (Calan); and vitamins.
tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver disease.
tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are
breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Doxazosin,
call your doctor.
if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or
dentist that you are taking Doxazosin.
you should know that this drug may make you drowsy or dizzy. Do not
drive a car or operate machinery 12-24 hours after the first time you
take Doxazosin or after your dose is increased.
